Katy has grown fast, with new neighborhoods west of Houston and a lot of young families. The area reaches into Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller counties.
New babies, new homes, and new jobs all change what a family needs from a health plan. Several of those changes can also open a Special Enrollment Period.
Guardian Insurance Services helps Katy-area families compare Marketplace coverage with a licensed agent, so you’re not guessing at deductibles and networks on your own.
Family coverage through the Marketplace
For families, the details matter. Our team helps you look at:
- Pediatric care and the costs of regular checkups
- Family deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums
- Which plans include your children’s doctors
- Whether your children may qualify for CHIP, even if the parents don’t qualify for Medicaid
Your household income affects how much help you get with the monthly premium. It doesn’t decide whether your family can enroll.
Marketplace open enrollment: November 1 through January 15.
Medicare and group
- Parents or grandparents turning 65? Our team helps compare Medicare options. Medicare Annual Enrollment is October 15 to December 7.
- Running a small business in Katy? Ask about group health.

Katy family health insurance FAQ
Q: We just had a baby. Can we change our plan?
A: Usually, yes. Having a baby is a qualifying life event, and you generally have 60 days to report it and pick a plan. Reach out soon so you don’t miss the window.
Q: We moved to Katy from another state. Do we need a new plan?
A: Most likely. A permanent move to a new area can open a Special Enrollment Period, and plans differ by area. Our team can help you compare what’s offered at your new address.
Q: My spouse’s job offers family coverage. Can we use the Marketplace instead?
A: You can buy a Marketplace plan, but an affordable employer offer can block premium tax credits for family members. HealthCare.gov’s application will check this. We can walk through it with you.
